Same quality and tools as on the original glossy scaled Recruit but scales on this one are matt and have a better grip.I have both Ecoline and standard Recruit knives but the glossy one looks a lot better and is even cheaper here on Amazon.The description is wrong this is a Recruit not a Cadet a Cadet has Alox scales and instead of small blade it has a nailfile.And of course it is UK carry legal NON-locking with blades under 3″The main blade is about 2.5″ and the small one is 1.5″4/5 stars coz: it looks very cheap even its the same great Victorinox quality but the shield logo is cheaply made and looks almost as a fake or something it doesn’t looks so good as on the product image.The cross shield logo is just imprinted to the scales and will come off after a time of use plus this one is mostly more expensive than standard Recruit even the purpose of theEcoLine (economy line) is to be cheaper than standard.Better get the standard Recruit with glossy scales its just about a tenner from Amazon same quality but looks a lot better

I have had a Victorinox Recruit Ecoline for over 15 years now and it hasn’t failed me yet. I prefer the ecoline/matt handles to the shiney red handles as they are more scratch resistant.This knife is a bargin and will last forever whilst remaining sharp. It has a perfect balance between size and funtionality not too many functions and not too small/large.It has almost every tool you will need for a day to day knife/tool the only thing you might miss is scissors/pliers but they would feel out of place in this size of pocket knife.Also note this item is incorrectly named! the model is infact the “Recruit” not the “Cadet”. I have informed amazon but they have yet to amend it. The knife’s are very similar but this one is better in my opinion.

At nearly 50% price premium over the glossy version there needs to be a good reason to obtain. I’m just keeping it as a collectable.Personally I like the grippy scratch resistant matt finish over glossy. No real need for the flimsy silver embossing. IMO that detracts from not enhances the appearance.Faultless Victorinox quality and build.

Super 84mm Victorinox which fits nicely into your small jean pocket. Blades come shaving sharp and the other tools are exactly what you would expect with a Victorinox excellent. The matt handle scales feel cheaper than regular scales but dont let it put you off as they are a bit more grippy and if you are like me an hate scratching the handle of a shiny new knife for the first time this is the perfect option for you. I love it and it has become my new whittling tool!

As with all Victorinox/Swiss Army products this penknife is sturdy and practical. Built to their usual high standards and a good useful size without being too bulky in the pocket. I highly recommend it 😀
