I prefer this Ironman to the T5K1959 for a few reasons.1) The strap is softer more flexible and less rigid and therefore much more comfortable.2) The INTERVAL timer is an extra feature that I really rate. Its very simple. You can set the exercise duration (interval 1) and the rest period (Interval 2) and then set it to either go through once or just keep going. You could use it for Fartlek running or other types of simple intervals – but its good to have it.3) 3 alarms (not 1) and the ability to specify weekday weekend or any specific day of the week.Otherwise it is good for all the same reasons as any Ironman watch.The display/face is big and clear the digits are sharp and the indiglo is very good.The interface and button function is easy to use and the big buttons are easy to press and quick to move through.The watch does not feel particularly robust – but I can’t tell if that is just a feeling or a sign of things to come.The START/SPLIT button on the face seems to require quite a lot of travel until it operates – but you get used to that.The low profile light weight and comfortable strap means it is a watch you can keep on all the time including through the night. My current favourite Ironman watch well suited to sports use and one of the few TIMEX watches that I don’t immediately want to change the strap on.

Nice.Compared to other Timex watches I have (classic 100 and original 30) this is the largest of them. With that said it’s also very flat and low profile so would fit under a sleeve quite easily. The benefit of this watch over the similar 30 lap in this style is the addition of a 2-step interval timer afaik this isn’t available on the medium sized variants. There is also a basic/standard cdt both of which can be set to auto-repeat if need be.The LCD display is clear and digits large and easily legible at all angles. The indiglo function works as expected/stated lighting up the digits instead of the whole screen something I feel is more fitting and effective for use in dim or lightless conditions.All other functions are top notch as per usual for Timex Chrono easily settable to count laps as well as navigate thru after a run for e.g alarms settable to weekend/weekday/daily although this model has the additional setting to specify a certain day as well. The tones and alarms are loud and clear and will suit most potential buyer’s needs imo. Although there is no world time function the watch provides dual time where a second time zone can be set and accessed by the front start/stop button for most needs I think this is suitable. Colorway-wise I think it’s nicely balanced and muted although the white can look a little jarring (a small amount of enamel paint can resolve this) although I’m just being pedantic here. Personally I think it looks slicker and all round cooler than the similarly functioning Sleek 50 (also features a 2-stage interval timer).Would recommend although I noticed the price has gone up Worth 33 quid I paid for mine.

Had this watch for 14 months when the strap snapped. I rarely take it off and no force has been applied. Otherwise I would have given it 4 stars.Good: large clear digits. Good options for runners with dual time 3 alarms interval timer countdown timer and lap recording. Very easy logical menu system. Comfortable.Bad: the strap usually lasts less time than the battery. If you do change the battery the watch is no longer waterproof. Timex print a stupid logo on the screen that impinges on the upper read-out.I have had 5 Ironmans and the strap rarely lasts more than a year. As it is built into the structure of the watch it is almost impossible to fit an alternative replacement (you can get one from USA for about $15). I regard this as cynical built in obsolescence but keep coming back to buy them because I can’t find the functionality clarity and comfort in competitors’ watches. As soon as I do I will abandon them and then I won’t get annoyed every year when the strap breaks.

I have been looking for a watch with an interval timer for a long time I have been making do with an old timex which had a count down timer with an alert beep which lasted 10 seconds so I could do standard tabata’s but still had to keep track of the rounds in my head I have this watch less than 24hrs and it is already the best thing I have bought in years I have had at least 4 Gymboss timers and although they are excellent I have a habit of losing them or they break down if I train in the heavy rain the only criticism would be the beep at the end of the first interval could be louder / longer I suspect swimming intervals could be difficult to hear it not tried that yet.

Very similar in function to my old Times Ironman Triathlon (TK5195) so it was fairly easy to use. As opposed o the TK5195 the bezel mounting “screws” are more recessed on this watch so there is less likelihood of them being damaged when knocked.
