I have had a 100lbs heavy bag hung from this hanger for over three months now and there’s no issue whatsoever. The hanger itself is quite adequate to carry the load and the momentum from when it is swung around as you punch & kick. . . . . However the suggestion to use the two included bolt screws to mount this hanger to the overhead wood beams directly is simply ill conceived and seems to be the reason why many other people have had a poor experience with this product. I used a portion of a 2×8 to span across four wood beams and reinforced it with its cut pieces by doubling up across and around the inner two beams as shown in the attached photo. The hanger is bolted across the doubled up 2×8 using 5in bolts with nuts and washers.

Is there a NEGATIVE rating? This dangerous item contains a soft bolt that sheered off after less than 1 month of use. Our bag is 80 lbs. My son used it for maximum 10 minutes a day as this was his first experience with a heavy bag. The bolt sheer resulted in an Emergency room visit to check my son for Cervical/Spinal fracture due to how the bag came down. The Heavy metal chains also narrowly missed his eye as the bag support collapsed.Utterly disgusting. However I found a YouTube video from an Australian gym owner on how to use 10mm Polypropylene Rope & electrical tape to secure a HEAVIER bag for ALL DAY use. So I will be keeping the part that attaches to my ceiling beam; as in my photo.

 DANGEROUS unless you secure the vertical nut that secures the swivel to the anchor.I did this;1) I adjusted the tightness of the nut just enough so the swivel rotates freely with making as much contact with the anchor.2) unscrew the nut enough to add red loctite or a strong quick set glue (I used gorrila glue orange nozzle) on the threads.3) add oil or grease (I used CLP) to the metal on metal contact between the swivel and anchor.4)inspect by checking if there’s a gap between the swivel and anchor. If there is adjust nut and set again with glue or relocktite.Check that it has enough oil or grease.Before after and for long sessions during.This is what I did… I’m sure you can grab ideas and make it even safer. I bought this for mound a heavy bag I bought for my 15 and 17 year old son and daughter. Unfortunately the center bolt constantly unscrews itself and the bag falls. The center bolt should either be fixed of have a different method of connecting.
