Minimalist5.0: This is the first pedometer I’ve bought. I’ve been wedded to my bicycle since I was four and never thought I’d ever get to like walking long distances but this device has convinced me otherwise. It’s been living in my pocket since it arrived two months ago and it’s made me aware of how much I move around in a day. This has led to me pacing around the house whenever I have a spare moment just to get the numbers up and every morning I’m out at dawn walking ten miles (I started at two miles per day but the fitter I got the more I wanted to keep walking). And now I don’t do it because I have to but because I enjoy it.I’m retired female and overweight. That is I was overweight. Walking at my leisurely pace doesn’t burn off that many calories per hour but if you do it enough it will add up. Together with simply eating less I’ve shed 20 lbs since that pedometer arrived. After years of trying silly ‘diets’ and failing the only thing that’s working for me is the old fashioned way. Eat smaller portions of what you normally eat and move more. And for strength weight training at home with dumbbells and bands works just fine. It’s so easy to get lazy as you get older but this pedometer works like a gentle reminder that it’s best to keep moving because there’s plenty of time for a good long sleep when we’re dead 🙂
Birdlebee5.0: I bought this just so I could have a rough idea of exactly what I do all day. Once I’d managed to get it set up to my height and stride it’s quite accurate and now I find myself checking frequently just how far I’ve walked in a day. Turns out that even though I work in an office I actually cover quite a lot of ground! It only measures distance in KM not miles but that’s okay. I love that if I get to 10k or more steps I get a happy waving man on the screen!!!February 2016 – updating my review: Having turned the house upside down to find my Pedometer I concluded I must have lost it and gave up the search. So I decided to empty the washing machine instead. Turns out it had been through the wash still attached to my trousers. Astonishingly it still works and even more astonishingly I’ve done 2788 steps!
finny lul5.0: I’m not into training for anything but just wanted to stretch myself a little if you know what I mean? In the past I’ve had pedometers but they were either free or cheap and didn’t really work properly. To be honest I wasn’t sure about spending this amount – I thought it was expensive for what I wanted it for but bit the bullet and am glad I did. I never take it off – even leave it on overnight so I don’t forget to put it back on in the morning and because it zeros itself at midnight I don’t have to remember to do anything – except to check how many steps I’ve done in the day….I’ve actually bought another for a friend who’s had a stroke and is just getting back into walking to encourage him to walk just those few extra steps a day.The only downside if you’re the wrong end of middle aged is that everything is in metric not Imperial but believe me it’s workable!!
Sandy5.0: I find this very useful and effective. It will clock up steps when I’m driving if I forget to take it off but if I sit it on the dash it’s fine. It counts steps effectively and does what it’s supposed to. Set up is easy – just make sure you have some stats (weight measure your stride etc.) and the gadget itself is small easy to carry in a pocket – I sometimes slip it in my bra and it seems to work really well. I like the ability to count steps for a specific period during the day – a set piece of exercise for example – and the clock is useful but I don’t bother much with the calorie counter so can’t give a fair assessment. It’s useful to be able to look back over the last few days too. An effective and easy to use pedometer which leaves the competition I’ve tried in the past way way behind. Worth the money – especially the orange ones which seem to sell for less…
gadget magnet5.0: I bought this having started power walking and wanting to give myself a goal of the 10k steps to do each day – I had purchased a cheap pedometer in a local chemist but found it didn’t record steps well if I was walking up and down hilly roads and also it wasnt accurate if it wasn’t lying totally level on my belt. This pedometer is really accurate – I just loop it through my belt look and tuck in my jean pocket though the clip is good too.I am a bit competitive and so making sure I do the 10k just so the person icon waves at me each day is great for making me walk more – sad but true! Just by having this on your each day you aware of how much more you should be walking so great incentive if you want to get fit and loose wait too. Well worth paying a bit more for something that does the job right.
